    On Sale Now—CEF Raffle Tickets
This year’s CEF Winner’s Choice raffle has begun! The prize: either $27,000 MSRP toward a 2017 Toyota OR $20,000 cash. Not bad! Each $20 ticket is available in the front office, cash or check made out to CEF. The Chandler Education Foundation sup-ports teachers (and ultimately students) with grants. This year, Jacobson’s PE teach-er Amanda Dannefeldt and 1st grade teach-ers Lori-Jo Peters and Val Nikolaus, all re-ceived grants to purchase additional sup-plies for their classrooms outside of the or-dinary classroom supplies. Tickets pur-chased in the Jacobson office before Friday, December 16 will be entered in the Early Bird prize drawing on December 22. All Early Bird winners will have their ticket stubs placed back in the grand prize drawing on February 12. You don’t have to be present to win. Good luck!

    Hands-On Science Learning
What better place to learn about the environment than the outdoors? Fourth grade sci-entists in Ms. Mills’ class took advantage of a beautiful day and created land mod-els with slopes using soil, water and rocks. Students monitored and de-scribed how natural events and human activity have positive and negative im-pacts on environments. They also evalu-ated the consequences of environmen-tal occurrences that happen rapidly or over a period of time.

It’s Beginning to Sound a Lot Like a Holiday Concert!
Mrs. Ivanhoe’s 5th and 6th grade Orchestra is getting their Carole of the Bells on! Par-ents, family and friends will get to hear them perform in the MPR on Wednesday, No-vember 30. Look for more information from Mrs. Ivanhoe.

Way to go Denny and the Jets!
Mrs. Denny’s little Jets brought in the most donated toiletries for the Student Council’s drive to support the Chandler Care Center. The class will celebrate with a pizza party.

Student Council set a school-wide goal of 1,500 toiletry items and over 2,000 were collected! Thanks to everyone who sent in donations!

    Multi-Flow Map
The Multi-Flow Map is used for identifying the causes and effects of an event. When cre-ating this map, in the center rectangle write an important event that occurred(action). On the left side of the event, write the causes and on the right side of the event write the effects. Add arrows pointing to the right to show how the causes lead INTO the event and how the effects come OUT of the event. The causes do not have to match or balance with the effects, identi-fying all causes first and then the effects or vice versa, sup-port students in understanding that it is not a one to one cor-respondence. This map is great for historic analysis, reading and predicting events, and behavior management.

    Calling All Dads!
Our stellar Jets Dads’ Club has some campus beautification projects on Saturday, Decem-ber,, and they need your help. It is OK if you’re not an “official” Dad’s Club member, they’d love your help just the same! A professional company will clean off the old hop-scotch/shuffle board/4-square lines around campus to get ready for some fresh paint, but some help is needed. Next on the list, is cleaning the screen and equipment from movie night. Finally, they hope to paint the curbs in our drop-off and pick-up lanes. If you are able to help out for an hour or two or three (between 8am and 1pm) please sign up on the Signup Genius link Sand Blasting 12/3 (2h Shifts) and/or e-mail Mr. Zarnick at You can e-mail Mr. Zarnick with any questions as well.

Coming soon, and Just in Time for the Holidays!
Get ahead on your holiday shopping list with Gold Can-yon Candles. The PTO’s first fundraiser of the year runs through November 30th. We’re partnering with Gold Canyon Candles, and we’re hoping to have each student sell two candles to help us achieve our fundrais-ing goal. At the top of our fundraising wish list is a fun addition to the playground! It all depends on if enough money is raised. Information was sent home with you student last week. Candle samples are in the front office. Come and take a look!

Ho, Ho, Ho, Teacher Holiday Gifts!
We’ve had a few parents call asking if we have teacher wish lists. To make showing your appreciation for your student’s teacher easy this holiday, go to the Jacobson web site at: Teacher favs are listed in the announcements scroll and under the PTO tab. We also have hard copies in the front office.

    Missing jacket? Lunchbox? Water bottle?
Don’t buy new ones, tell your student to check the lost and found! We have a HUGE collection of these items near the cafeteria bathrooms. Anything left over after December 22 will be donated during the winter break.

Getting Ready for the Final Countdown in Space Explorers
Space Explorers Club is excited to present a Rocket Building Workshop for parent vol-unteers to come and learn how to actually assemble the rocket their students will launch. The workshop will be on Tuesday, January 17, 8:30-9:30 am in the Teacher’s Lounge. Demonstrations will be given by Ed LaCroix, who is the gentleman who comes every year to conduct our launches, as well as our own in-house experts, Steve Dawson and Joel Finkel.
