Welcome!

Hello my name is Deepa Iyer. I'm a self- proclaimed science geek. I have a Masters in Natural Science from ASU’s Fulton School of Engineering. My love for teaching began in 2007 when I got my first teaching job as a 4th grade teacher at CTA Independence, where I worked for 6 years before moving to KGA. After job sharing for two years, I moved into a full time teaching position here at KGA. I have a passion for science and I hope to inspire the same in my students.

My Education and Professional Background

I have a Masters in Social Work and a Masters in Natural Science. After the first three years of teaching I developed a keen interest in science instruction and enrolled in a Middle School STEM education program with the ASU School of Engineering. I received my Masters in Natural Science with specific emphasis on teaching middle school science with a STEM focus.

My Educational Philosophy

My belief is that teaching is a passion and not just a profession. All my students learn but not in the same way or on the same day. My personal goal is to help each student find his or her passion and become lifelong learners.
