Welcome!

Welcome! It is so exciting to be a part of San Marcos Elementary School this year. As Pre-Kindergarten students step into their new educational life at school, it's an incredible joy to see them experience this new world of learning at San Marcos and all it has to offer their growth and development.

My Education and Professional Background

Growing up in Chicago and after the fun (really!) high school years, I attended Northern Illinois University for my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education. I began my teaching career in elementary school physical education and over the years have been privileged to teach high school physical education, and athletic coaching plus elementary school classrooms in a variety of settings, University ESL, and adult education. Teaching and serving others also took me to Africa to teach English to doctors and nurses in Rwanda. This year, I get to join a team of amazingly creative teachers at San Marcos! I'm committed to providing your children with a positive and developmentally sound foundation for a lifetime of learning. With a welcoming environment and integrated curriculum that looks toward a global society we'll be setting high expectations and personal goals and as I come alongside your students on their unique and extraordinary journey. Pre-K is such an exciting year!

My Educational Philosophy

Preschool is very exciting for both students and teachers. It's a time to experience many opportunities for discovery and learning together with other children and teachers in our school community. My classroom is a safe and caring place where students are free to express their uniqueness. Children are great imitators which challenges me to demonstrate the best I can be for them. Thank you for choosing San Marcos Elementary School and giving me the opportunity to guide your children to love learning in a fun and challenging environment.
