About
Samour...
Welcome to my webpage, my classroom, and Hamilton High School! I am new to Hamilton but not new to teaching. This will be my 16th year of teaching English, but my love for reading and writing has never ceased. I have taught in the Casa Grande, Tempe, and the Gilbert Unified School Districts and most recently at Higley High School. I’m happy to be a Husky!
My Education and Professional Background
I received my Bachelor’s in Education from New Mexico State University, where I also played tennis on a full-ride scholarship. I earned my Master’s in Education – Curriculum and Instruction – from Arizona State University and my Dual-Enrollment English Certification from Grand Canyon University.
My Educational Philosophy
School was always a refuge for me and a place I found inspiration. I was introduced to concepts, methods, and books that readied me for tackling college, future learning, and life. As a teacher, I want my students to feel the same. To help achieve that I try to make the required curriculum a little more fun by making it relevant, varied, engaging, and collaborative. There is a value in everything we do in the classroom, and as long as both students and teachers put in the effort and the energy, learning and discovery will occur.
