Welcome to 3rd Grade Gifted Program!  I am looking forward to having your child in my class and as one of “Team Nicol’s Top Flyers”. I am excited to work together alongside Mrs. Graves (the other 3rd Grade Gifted teacher), and the rest of the Jacobson Gifted Program teachers, as we work together as a team to make this a year of great academic, emotional and social growth.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself.  I am an Arizona native and I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education.  I have my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership.  This will be my 26th year of teaching.  My husband and I live here in Chandler with our 3 wonderful children and with our fun loving dog, Rocky.  When I am not at school, I enjoy exercising, reading, and spending time with my family.

I will do anything I can to make it a wonderful year for your child.  Your child and their education are very important to me.  My goal is to provide an environment for your child where he/she can become confident and have a lifelong love for learning and thus experience many successes.  I believe in an “I can” mindset.  Every child is unique, special and precious! We are going to be learning and exploring some extraordinary topics this year in 3rd Grade.  There will be exciting activities and a plethora of learning.   Please join me at Meet the Teacher Night on July 18th from 5:00-6:30. This a great time for us to meet and a good time for your child to bring in classroom supplies.  Supplies can be left at their desk so there is less to carry on the first day of school. I’ve included a suggested supplies list below….Then, JGP Curriculum Night will be on August 12th from 5:30-6:15. At that time, we will meet in the library with the whole gifted team.  Then, we will go to our classroom where we will go over more in depth of what our classroom procedures are and share about important curriculum. (Just an FYI, we will be having class t-shirts and they will be paid for with your online tax credit.)  Order forms will be sent home the 1st week of school.

Teamwork is the key to educational success. Working together we can accomplish anything.  Please feel free to contact me regarding any questions or concerns that you may have throughout the school year @ 883-4132, send me a note and/or email at nicol.monica@cusd80.com . I look forward to being your child’s 3rd Grade Gifted teacher and getting to know you.  This is going to be a fantastic, exciting and successful year!

    Warmly,

    Monica Nicol
