    Grading

Each quarter you will earn a grade for this class. Your final semester grade will be calculated using the quarter grades (40% each) as well as your final exam (20%). You are responsible for keeping track of your own grade and you can access your grades through Infinite Campus online. Students are also able to speak before or after school about their grades.

Grade break down for the class:                                                    A standard scale is used:

                            Tests and Projects      50%                                         90 – 100%        = A

                            Quizzes                     20%                                         80 – 89%          = B

                            Practice                     30%                                         70 – 79%          = C

                                                                                                            60 – 69%          = D

                                                                                                            below 60%      = F

Grades are based on the following:

    1. Tests – Tests will be given at the end of each unit.
    2. Quizzes – Quizzes will be given throughout each unit. The number of quizzes will vary depending on the length of the unit.
    3. Assignments – Given daily and must be done on time. Homework/Classwork may be graded on accuracy or based on participation. Late HW Policy: Students who do not have their homework completed on time, will not earn full credit for late homework. Students have up to the day of each unit test to hand in late assignments.
    4. Final Exam – The final exam is cumulative and is 20% of the entire semester grade.

Note: Course due dates are subject to change.

    Quizzes

Quizzes will not be allowed to be retaken or corrected for credit.

Students may complete quiz corrections for practice.

If a student scores higher on the Unit Test than a quiz in the same unit, the quiz score will be replaced with the test score. If a student scores lower on the Unit Test than a quiz in the same unit, the quiz score will not be replaced.

Example:  Unit 1 Quiz Score = 60%, Unit 1 Test Score = 82%, Unit 1 Quiz Score will be replaced with 82%.

Unit 1 Quiz Score = 80%, Unit 1 Test Score = 62%, Unit 1 Quiz Score will remain original score 80%.

    Test Retake Policy

All students are eligible for test retakes. Retakes must be completed 2 weeks following the test being graded. Retake requests will not be granted the last two weeks of each quarter.

To be eligible for retakes students must:

    • Complete all homework / classwork BEFORE the original test.
    • Complete test corrections (for no credit).
    • Attend a minimum of 2 tutoring sessions (additional problems assigned)
    • Original score (or 50%, whichever is greater) and the retake score will be averaged together for the final test grade.

    Attendance

    Virtual

Attendance is based on engagement. If a student is not present for synchronous instruction and does not complete the asynchronous/alternative assignment for the daily class meeting, then the student is considered absent. Teachers will contact attendance clerks once a student is determined to be absent. This policy is tentative and subject to change.

    In Person

Attendance is extremely important to be successful in this class.  If a student is absent from class, it is their responsibility to get the missing work. All work will be posted on google classroom.  A student has as many days as they were absent to hand in make-up work for full credit. To excuse an absence, the Parent/Guardian must call the attendance.

Unexcused absences on test / quiz days will result in a zero for that quiz / test.

      Tardy to Class

    In Person

You are considered tardy if you are not in the classroom, seated and prepared to work when the bell rings.  It is student’s responsibility to get notes or assignments missed during time missing from class.

     Cheating

    Virtual & In Person

Cheating means, but not limited to the following: copying homework, quizzes, and tests, using electronic devices, or talking during an assessment. Providing the opportunity for another student to cheat off you will also be considered cheating. These behaviors are unacceptable and will not be tolerated

You will receive a contact home and a permanent zero on such assignment, quiz, or test.

Quizzes that are scored as a zero for cheating will not be replaced with the unit test score.

If the behavior is a repeated offence, a conduct referral will be turned into the office.

      Tutoring

    Virtual

During class Google Meeting or via email, remind, or google voice.
