• Week of April 1st - April 8th

Hello College Algebra (S. Donahue) Classes

My Google Classes for College Algebra are up and running. Today I am also sending directions for your initial sign in Google Classroom . As you follow the steps please note that your names are already in my google classrooms. Thus, you will NOT need a class code. I also have been shared by other teachers that when students have trouble getting into their Google Classroom a good idea is to be logged out of any other Google Account.

I have several things to do this week including videos created with Edpuzzle and some Quiz problems  created in Quizizz. As always send me any questions via cusd school email.

I must say I miss seeing all of you. Please stay safe….here we go….let the learning start.

    • Assignments should be completed by Wednesday  April 8th.  Do not put this off until the last minute.  It is very easy to get behind and then EVERYTHING is a snowball (avalanche).  The material is able to be completed in approximately the same amount of time you would have actually spent in class with me…
    • Links to all activities are on Google Classroom
    • Points will be awarded for completion, however, please be aware that it is important to understand the material.
    • At this time send me you questions via email. Be patient with yourself and also with me as we navigate online learning together ☺

As you are watching the videos, use a piece of notebook paper to write down important vocabulary terms and examples.

As you are solving the Quizizz problems, use a piece of notebook paper to write down the problem and show your work.  If you are stuck on a problem, take a picture of the problem and email it to me.

Edpuzzle Video: 5.1 Types of Systems (approximately 20 minutes)

    Quizizz: Classifying Systems of Equations

Edpuzzle Video: Solving by Substitution (approximately 17 minutes)

Quizizz: Solving Systems of Equations Using Substitution Practice

Edpuzzle Video: Solving by Elimination (approximately 15 minutes)

    Quizizz: Solving Systems Using Elimination

    • Links to all activities are on Google Classroom
    • Please be aware that you can resubmit assignments to ensure 100%.
    • Be patient with yourself and also with me as we navigate online learning together

As you are watching the videos, use a piece of notebook paper to write down important vocabulary terms and examples.

As you are solving the Google Forms (also known as Google Quiz) problems, use a piece of notebook paper to write down the problem and show your work.  If you are stuck on a problem, take a picture of the problem and email it to me so we can work through the problem together.

  • Week April 15th - April 22nd

    Hello Class

I hope you are all well.

This week we are still working with systems. For the past few weeks our equations have been linear. This week we will include non-linear equations in our systems.

As always I am picking up email questions. If you write down the question you have, including the equations I will do my best to return a response that will help you master the objective.

Note I am scoring any free response questions for each student. If the response you enter has nothing to do with the problem, or you have not answered the question you are being asked I do not give partial credit.

Reminder that all of these instructions can be found on my faculty website.

Please remain positive as we move forward. We are all involved in new territory.

This week we will have a total of three activities for you to complete.

    1. EdPuzzle 5.6 Systems of Nonlinear Equations
    2. Quizizz Quiz over Solving Systems of Nonlinear Equations
    3. Google Forms Solving Systems of Nonlinear Equations.

  • Week of April 22nd - April 29th

Hello Class, I hope this finds you well.

We continue to work with system of linear equations this week. We are now looking at a system of linear inequalities. We will be graphing this system and discussing what the solution looks like.

As in the past weeks, my faculty website for Hamilton will have a copy of this message detailing what is to be done this week. Just like all assignments this week’s assignments will stay open for your continued efforts. All past assignments are still available and all past assignments can still be completed. Many students must share one computer per family and with that in mind I did not want to set deadlines each week for assignments. Thus, feel free to work past week’s activities as well as our present week’s activities.

Most of my due dates are set towards the end of May. This is because there will be a point I must stop taking student work, and calculate a 4th nine week's grade. This will be around May 22nd.

Infinite campus will be updated hopefully once per week. Please understand that since each student can turn in any assignment it becomes a major task to keep all grades updated in Infinite Campus. I will do my best. There has been a glitch in software sending scores to google classroom, and I will continue to strive to perfect this transfer of grades.

In goole classroom this week, we have three tasks to complete, two videos to learn this our objectives and one google form with ten questions to confirm you have mastered the material.

It is vital that you watch the videos prior to answering the 10 questions. If you have a concern just send me an email in CUSD.

    This week in Google Classroom

    1. EdPuzzle System of Inequalities Notes
    2. EdPuzzle 5.6 Systems of Linear Inequalities
    3. Ten Questions on System of Linear Inequalities

    Week of April  29 - May 6

    College Algebra

Hello Class, I hope this finds you well.

We are moving on to Sequences and Series this week. We concentrate on vocabulary and notation to start this unit off.

As in the past weeks, my faculty website for Hamilton will have a copy of this message detailing what is to be done this week. Just like all assignments this week’s assignments will stay open for your continued efforts. All past assignments are still available and all past assignments can still be completed. Infinite campus will be updated hopefully once per week. Please understand that since each student can turn in any assignment it becomes a major task to keep all grades updated in Infinite Campus. I will do my best.

In goole classroom this week, we have two tasks to complete, a video to learn the objectives and a 15 questions google form to confirm you have mastered the material.

It is vital that you watch the video prior to answering the 15 questions. If you have a concern just send me an email in CUSD.

This week in Google Classroom you must complete the following for credit.

    1. EdPuzzle Introduction to Sequences and Series
    2. Sequence and Series Practice Form

IF YOU NEED ADDITIONAL RESOURCES TO LEARN THIS WEEK’S MATERIAL THE FOLLOWING WEBSITE IS VERY POWERFUL. IT IS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX. THEY HAVE A COLLECTION OF TUTORIALS ON MOST ANY MATH TOPIC.  ONCE YOU HAVE THE SITE, LOOK FOR  ALGEBRA 2, AND THEN THE TOPIC SEQUENCES AND SERIES AND THE THE SUBTOPIC SEQUENCES. THIS IS WHERE I FOUND THE FOLLOWING FIVE TUTORIALS.   These are NOT assigned to you they are just offered as extra help.

    Sequences

    Introduction to Sequences

Ex 1:  Finding Terms in a Sequence Given the Sequence Formula

Ex 2:  Finding Terms in a Sequence Given the Sequence Formula in Fraction Form

Ex 3: Finding Terms in a Sequence Given the Sequence Formula in Fraction Form

Ex: Finding Terms in a Sequence Given the Recursive Formula

For extra help with Series these are also in the list under the subtitle Series. I found these two. These are NOT assigned to you they are just offered as extra help.

    Series

Ex 1: Find a Sum Written in Summation / Sigma Notation

Ex 2: Find a Sum Written in Summation / Sigma Notation

FYI  I have had a couple students share they have completed an assignment, yet I do not have any score in Infinite Campus. With this is mind, when you complete an assignment be aware of how your answers are saved. Look for options like, save, submit, turn in , or confirm. If I can see a score, it is in Infinite Campus. You may need to go back to these assignments and reattempt to submit your work. Together we can work issues out.

Hello Class, I hope this finds you well.

We are moving on to Arithmetic Sequences and Series this week. We will use formulas to  determine a specific term of the sequence and find the sum of a finite number of terms in the sequence.

As you know your Hamilton third nine week grade will become your Hamilton semester grade if you do not complete 75% of the 4th quarter grades. If you do earn 75% of the 4th quarter grade you can raise your grade by 1 letter grade.
