• All About Me - Mrs Rife

I took the long route to teaching. Although I took college classes along the way, I spent my 20s in the corporate world. Eventually I had to decide what I wanted to be when I grew up so I started back to school in earnest at age 28. I attended Phoenix College and of course, Arizona State University (Go Devils). I graduated with a bachelors in elementary education with a minor in mathematics. Within a few years I worked locally on my masters degree from Northern Arizona University.

I began my career teaching 3rd and 4th grade in the Kyrene School District. After 9 years, a good friend moved to middle school and assured me I would love teaching at that level. She was right. I worked with 6th grade students for 5 years and along the way, earned my secondary math certification.

Wanting to use my higher level credentials, I moved to the Chandler school district. For 6 years I worked with CATS students at Andersen Junior High. The opportunity came up for me to move to Arizona College Prep and I jumped at the chance to come and help build this new program. I am thrilled to be here and am ready to work with your 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

I'm not only a teacher, I'm also a wife and mother! My daughter Kristen is an ASU graduate and is living in southern California, working at Disneyland. She also is working on her master's degree in screenwriting. Due to COVID, Kristen has been furloughed and is staying with us. Although we've enjoyed being empty-nesters we are now enjoying this unique opportunity to spend extended quality time with our grown daughter.

My husband Dan retired a few years ago. He works hard to provide tech support, car maintenance, yard maintenance, remodeling, etc for our family! We enjoy traveling, recently visiting Italy and Greece, Chicago, DisneyWorld and Disneyland. We're looking forward to the time when we can begin traveling again!

Our family also includes a lab mix named Stella who may be the cutest dog in Chandler!
