• The "BIG Cheese"
    Dear Parents,

This year, your child will have the opportunity to be the "Big Cheese!" While your child has this special honor, each day of the week will consist of an exciting event or activity to honor him or her and to help us get to know our magical classmate a little better.

Poster Share: The "BIG Cheese" will create a poster that tells all about them!  They can be as creative and open as they'd like.  This will be shared at our Morning Meeting time and hung in the classroom for the duration of the week.

Favorite Book: The star student brings one of his or her favorite books to read to the class (or have the teacher read to the class) at our Morning Meeting.  If they bring in a chapter book, we'll only read a few chapters.

Parent Letter: Parents, you will write a letter to the class telling us what is unique and special about your child.  Send the letter in a sealed envelope to school in his/her folder, and I will read the letter to the class at Morning Meeting.  The content of the letter is up to you, but you may want to choose from one of the following ideas: describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear, write a silly or serious poem about your child, tell us some neat things we may not know about your child, send silly or special pictures with a letter describing the pictures.

Treasured TrinketsPlease help your child collect up to 5 special items from home and send them to school on Thursday to share with his or her classmates during Morning Meeting.  Try to encourage your child to choose items that have some sort of meaning rather than just a collection of toys.

"Big Cheese" Love Fest:  The "BIG Cheese" will be presented with a friendship booklet created by his or her classmates. The booklet will be made of friendly letters that each student will write about your child.

I will let you know the weekend before it's your child's week to be the "BIG Cheese" so that you can help him/her prepare. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. I hope your child enjoys thier special week!
