    Class Structure:

    During virtual instruction we will use the Google Classroom platform to deliver instruction pre-recorded and live. 

    If you and your child need support with virtual instruction we will schedule a time for you and your child to come to the classroom in order to meet with your case manager to support you and your child understanding of how to use the virtual education tools that we have available through Google Classroom. 

    Each course will address the IEP goals of students. Students need to participate in all class work/projects and discussions. Students will receive Para-Educator support and possibly Peer Facilitators.  Our class structure will be through Google Classroom.

    Grading:

    80% classwork and 20% final make up students’ grade, with 60% as a passing grade.

    Parent/Student Infinite Campus (Grade check): https://campus.cusd80.com/campus/portal/chandler.jsp.  Grades will be posted in Infinite Campus weekly to keep you updated on your student’s progress.

     

    Staff Communication:

    I will respond to your email/phone call within 24 hours.  If you have a preference of the best way you would like to communicate (email, phone calls) let me know and times the you are available (days, evenings etc.).  I want to be aware of any concerns you may have so please allow me to address your concerns.  My teacher page will give you contact information and office hours. 

     

    Weekly check-ins:

    Check-ins will be made by a Para-educator, Ms. Tabet, who will contact you to document how things are going, what needs you or your child have, and get this information to the appropriate people so they can provide that support.

     

    Student Communication:

    Students will see updates/announcements on Google Classroom (GC) and assignments posted in GC/Classwork.

    Materials Needed:

    During virtual instruction students will need access to a computer/laptop and Wi-Fi; if this is not available please let me know so we can make sure your student has access to the instruction. 

     

    Classwork:

    There will be weekly assignments. Please let me know of any specific needs regarding class assignments.

    If there are excessive missing assignments you will be notified to discuss how to support that situation.

     

    Absences:

    During Virtual instruction students need to attend lessons during class periods; if unable to attend class there will be a pre-recorded lesson available to view.  If you are unable to attend during class period please let me know.  We will document student contact through Google Classroom in order to verify class participation.  Myself or Ms. Tabet may follow up with emails or phone calls to the student when necessary.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Class times:

    Wednesday, August 5 we will start virtual instruction with block periods 1, 3, 5.  The next day virtual instruction with block periods 2, 4, 6 alternating and so on. 

    Period 1 or 2: 7:25-9:17

    Period 3 or 4: 9:20-12:18

    Period 5 or 6: 12:23-2:14

    Virtual Attendance Statement:

    Attendance is based on engagement. If a student is not present for synchronous instruction and does not complete the asynchronous/alternative assignment for the daily class meeting, then the student is considered absent. Teachers will contact attendance clerks once a student is determined to be absent. 

    Excessive Absences:  A.R.S. §15-803 (B) states that absences may be considered excessive when the number of absent days exceeds ten percent of the number of required attendance days prescribed in A.R.S. §15-802.Ten percent equates to nine (9) days of absences per semester regardless of whether they are excused or unexcused. Students with excessive excused absences will be required to provide medical documentation to remain in class and excuse any further absences. If additional absences occur, and medical documentation is not provided, the student will be referred administration.
