Arrival Activities

AM:  8:15-8:30

PM:  12:15-12:30

Children and their families are greeted.  Children store their belongings and find a seat at the table for some table activities.

Group Meeting/Circle Time

AM:  8:30-8:50

PM:  12:30-12:50

Children are led in a welcoming song or finger play.  Other activities may include counting the children and deciding who is not here, discussing the day’s activities, introducing pre-academic skills, etc.  The day’s lesson is also presented and developed.

Small Groups 

AM:  8:50-9:25

PM:  12:50-1:25

Children will be divided into 4 groups.  They will be directed to and led in 4 short, small-group activities that build on their skills and interests. 

Choice Time

AM:  9:25-9:40

PM:  1:25-1:40

Children will be guided in selecting interest areas.  Staff may observe and interact with individual children to extend play and learning.  Staff may work with individual children engaged in study activities.

Outdoor Time

AM:  9:40-10:00

PM:  1:40-2:00

Children are supervised using the playground toys and materials.  Staff observes and interacts with children as they play games, blow bubbles, make nature discoveries and so on.  The lesson being studied may be extended to the outdoors, if appropriate.  Children are helped to carry in and put away toys and materials, hang up jackets, toilet and wash up. 

Snack

AM:  10:00-10:15

PM:  2:00-2:15

Staff will sit with children and enjoy a snack together.  Whenever possible, children serve themselves.  Staff will talk with the children and ask questions requiring thought and more than one word answers.  Children are encouraged to talk with each other

AM:  10:15-10:30

PM:  2:15-2:30

Story Time/Group Meeting

AM:  10:30-10:42

PM:  2:30-2:42

Children may be read a story, do a movement and music activity, share what they did that day, and discuss plans for the next day.

Home

AM:  10:42-10:45

PM:  2:42-2:45

Children are helped to gather their belongings and prepare to leave for the day.  Staff will greet parents and answer questions.
