Table Top Activities
Children and their families are greeted individually.
Children store their belongings, wash their hands and select an activity at a table with their peers.
Children are led in a welcoming song or finger play. Other activities may include the letter of the day, presenting and developing the theme, discussing the day’s activities, stories, and more.
Children participate in student led activities for building knowledge through play and interactions with teachers and peers. Teachers may observe and interact with individual children to extend play and learning.
The children clean up all their activities and the assistant preps for snack time.
Children are supervised using the playground toys and materials. Teachers observe and interact with children as they jump rope, play ball games, blow bubbles, make nature discoveries and so on. The lesson being studied may be extended to the outdoors, if appropriate.
As we come in from outdoors the children wash their hands and prepare for snack time.
Teachers sit with children and enjoy a snack together. Whenever possible, children serve themselves. Teachers talk with the children and ask questions requiring thought and more than one word answers. Children are encouraged to talk with each other.
Pack Up Backpacks
As children finish their snack and clean up, they then go and pack all their work from the day into their backpacks and then join the class on the carpet for closing circle.
Children may be read a story, do a music and movement activity, share what they did that day, discuss plans for the next day and more. Children then gather their backpacks and are dismissed to their parents. Dismissal is 11:00AM/2:45PM
