Chandler English Language Arts OverviewChandler Unified School District recognizes English Language Arts (ELA) is at the core of a student’s education. Academic achievement is a high priority. Teachers provide rich and authentic learning experiences after combining two or more of the reading, writing, speaking and listening ELA standards.Students in the Chandler Unified School District are immersed in learning environments that include evidence-based core programs with expert teachers who are responsive to student needs. Teachers closely monitor student learning and performance to ensure academic excellence.Through rigorous and interesting textual analysis of literature, drama, speeches, informational text, poetry and other text, students develop an understanding of other perspectives and cultures. Twenty-first century skills are embedded in ELA instruction, preparing students to be ready to compete successfully in the global economy.As students master the standards in ELA, they are able to exhibit with increasing fullness and regularity these capacities of the literate individual.
