• Mrs. Carol Lynn Wood

    Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Welcome to a new and exciting school year at Andersen Junior High School! My name is Mrs. Wood, and I will be your son/daughter’s READ180 teacher for the 2018 - 2019 school year. I have been teaching for 33 years, all in the Chandler Unified School District. This is my twelfth year at AJHS.

Reading is an extremely important subject, and my hope is that by the end of the year, your child will have a greater love of reading, feel good about themselves as a reader, feel confident in reading aloud, and take risks in the area of reading.

To help ensure that your child has a successful year, there are a few items that they will need EVERY DAY in class:

    • Pocket folder with 3 fasteners inside the folder
    • Pencil
    • Pen
    • Good attitude about learning!

    Rules and Guidelines

    Mrs. Wood’s Class Rules:

    1. Be in your seat and ready for class when the bell rings.
    2. Always have a pencil with you.
    3. Listen carefully.
    4. Raise your hand without calling out answers.
    5. Treat others with respect.

All classes at AJHS follow the RTP (Responsible Thinking Process) rules. Your child has already learned about the expectations for RTP during the first few days of school. (See blue handout)

    The AJHS tardy policy states:

         1st tardy = warning

2nd tardy and ANY tardy thereafter = RTC

    ·         Computer work  = 40%

    ·         Independent Reading (Reading, Reading Counts Quizzes and QuickWrites) = 25%

    ·         Small group/Whole group = 35%

    Work Expectations:

To get the most out of the READ180 instruction, students will need to:

    • Come to class prepared to read and work hard every day!
    • Ask questions when they are not sure!
    • Participate in all three READ180 components daily!
    • Read, read, read and read MORE outside of school!

    • E-mail      wood.carol@cusd80.com
    • Phone       480.883.5380 (voice mail at AJHS)
    • E-mail is the quickest way to get a hold of me, or send in a note with your child if you wish.

Please contact me if you have any questions, ever! Thanks so much for your support and cooperation! I am looking forward to working with you and your children this year!
