Originally from Washington, D.C., I spent the majority of my life on the South Shore of Boston, Massachusetts. I earned my bachelor's degree from Bridgewater State College where I double majored in education and Spanish. I lived abroad in Santiago, Chile for one semester and studied at the Universidad de Andrés Bello.
I enjoy traveling and realized that I could combine traveling with volunteering so during my college summers I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Georgia, California, and Mexico, then later with the Rocky Mountain Youth Corp in New Mexico. The bonus was meeting new people (generally from other countries) and forming lasting friendships.
After I graduated from college I traveled to Europe and met up with some of the friends I had made through my volunteer work. Russia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Italy and Turkey were all places I visited that summer. When I think back to those 8 weeks in Europe, I realize how much of an appreciation I gained for other cultures.
I taught middle school for five years in Massachusetts and in the meantime earned a Master's of Education from Cambridge College. During this time I also had the opportunity to travel to the Australian Outback, Cuba, and Costa Rica--all truly amazing!
I love being a part of the Chandler High School family. I look forward to the year ahead and wish you all the best for the upcoming school year!
