Degrees and Certifications:

Coach Boone

I'm looking forward to my 3rd year at Perry High School training athletes. Prior to teaching at PHS, I taught for 29 years in the Gilbert School District. I have been a head coach of volleyball (boys and girls) and softball.

I am an Arizona native and grew up in Phoenix attending Central High School. I attended Mesa Community College from 1977-1979 and played volleyball, basketball, and softball. I graduated from ASU summa cum laude and played outside hitter on the volleyball team. After college I played almost 10 years of rugby. My last two years I had a great experience playing fullback for the United States Eagles. In 1990, I did my graduate work at ASU in Exercise Science. I have coached and taught at Mesa Community College as adjunct faculty for over 20 years.

I currently live in Gilbert with my husband, John, who is a retired Mesa Firefighter. We have two daughters, Angie and Carla who are both in nursing. I have a dog named Freddy who is my running buddy.

I have a passion for sports, physical fitness, and weight training; they have always been a part of my lifestyle. My hobbies are crosswords and reading. I read every day. I enjoy all genres of literature but some of my favorite authors are Victor Hugo, Summerset Maugham, E.M. Forster, Hemingway, Edith Wharton, Thomas Hardy, Robert Jordan, Terry Brooks, Patrick Rothfuss, and Tolkien.

Teaching and having a positive influence on my students are a driving motivation for me. I have trained and coached over 15,000 athletes. At this point in my teaching career, one of the most rewarding things for me is to hear from past students and get caught up with what they are doing with their lives. I feel privileged to have been able to teach so many outstanding young people. I also feel honored to have been able to work with many great teachers and coaches. I am excited to be a part of Puma Nation!
