    Course Description

     

    This course is designed to provide students with reinforcement of learning and organization skills that will benefit them in all classes. This course also provides students the opportunity to complete and receive assistance on those class assignments and quiz/test preparation as necessary for their core classes.

     

    Course Goals & Outcomes

     

    The educational goals for this course are:

    • Students will learn a variety of test taking and learning strategies.
    • Students will gain an understanding of their Individualized Education Program (IEP).

    Course Structure/Approach

     

    There will be daily assignments that deal with reinforcing learning and organizational strategies that will assist you in all of your classes. You will be provided with the opportunity to receive assistance and test/quiz preparation for your other classes which will be self-directed and teacher supported. You are expected to have appropriate assignments/materials from classes to complete while in Strategies.  If you do not bring work or a book to read you will be required to complete extra assignments provided by the Strategies teacher.

     

    Required Materials

     

    Pencil/Pen

    Paper (spiral notebook or loose leaf)

    Work from classes (including all necessary materials) or Book to read

     

    Absences

     

    Upon returning from an excused absence you will be responsible for making up any missed work.  You will be given one additional class period for each class period missed to turn in completed work.  Make up work from unexcused absences will result in a 50% deduction.

     

     

    Classroom Expectations

     

    You are expected to follow all school and classroom rules as stated in the classroom and student handbook.  The following sequence of consequences will be followed for misbehavior.

    1. Verbal warning

    2. Conference with student

    3. Phone call to parent/guardian

    4. Conduct referral submitted to appropriate grade level administrator

      (Automatic referral given in extreme circumstances)

       

       

      Electronic devices (cell phones, iPods, etc.), food and drinks are NOT allowed in classrooms at Hamilton.
