Welcome to second grade! I am beyond excited to begin another amazing year! I look forward to getting to know you and your family throughout our time together. A little bit about me: My husband and I have two children named Drew and Kate. As a family, we enjoy taking frequent trips to the beach and lake. We also have a kitty named Rosie, a Boxer named Tank, and an extremely social desert tortoise named Star.
My Education and Professional Background
I am an Arizona native. In fact, I grew up in Chandler, AZ and graduated from CUSD’s very own, Chandler High School. After graduating from high school, I attended Arizona State University (Go Devils!) and earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Following graduation, I continued courses and received my Reading Endorsement K-8th and Early Childhood Endorsement. More recently, I earned my Masters degree from the University of Arizona in Special Education with an emphasis in audiology and teaching students with hearing loss.I began my teaching career in 2005 and joined the Haley community in 2008 to participate in opening this beautiful school. I have had the privilege of teaching preschool, first grade, second grade, and reading in kindergarten through sixth grade. I have also served as an itinerant teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Prekindergarten-12th grade. I have a strong passion for teaching and there is nothing else I’d rather do!
My Educational Philosophy
I believe each and every child is capable of success and deserves access to the best, individualized education fit to their unique learning style. I strive to create a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment, which will motivate and support students to grow and mature intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially. I believe a strong classroom community encourages risk taking, self-advocacy, advocacy for others, respect, and compassion. My hope is that my dedication to my students, and my passion for teaching will inspire them to be the best that they can be!I am honored to play such an influential role in my students’ lives.
