|Position:||Environmental Science Teacher|
Welcome to Casteel High School! I have been teaching middle school and high school science since 2010, and I absolutely love getting to share my passion for science with the next generation of innovators! I am proud to be part of the awesome Casteel community, and I look forward to having a fantastic year with all of you.
My Education and Professional Background
I have my Bachelor's degree in General Biology and Chemistry from U of A, and I am currently certified to teach middle school science as well as high school biology and ecology. I completed my Master's degree in Educational Leadership at ASU in 2016, and I am now a certified school administrator as well. Since 2017, I have been part of U of A's STEM educator graduate program called Teachers in Industry. This program has been an incredible experience merging my two loves, science and education.
My Educational Philosophy
My Educational Philosophy can be summarized through the words of many great thinkers: • “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” –Benjamin Franklin • “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” –Albert Einstein • “The art of teaching [science] is the art of assisting discovery.” –Mark Van Doren • “They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” –Carl W. Buehner • “Good schools, like good societies and good families, celebrate and cherish diversity.” –Deborah Meier • The Four C’s of 21st Century Education are Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. • “Who dares to teach must never cease to learn.” –John Dana • “Teachers have three loves: love of learning, love of learners, and the love of bringing the first two loves together.” –Scott Hayden
