My aim as the Media Specialist is to help students see that it is NOT that they don't like to read, but that it is they aren't selecting the correct reading material for them! Reading builds brains!
My Education and Professional Background
A graduate of Scottsdale School District, Bethany Celmins is a University of Michigan alumnus. Ms. Celmins enrolled in Arizona State University's post baccalaureate certification program and completed an M. Ed. in special education. She earned a second M.Ed. in education technology management from Northcentral University in 2012. After nearly five years in the Kyrene School District, Ms. Celmins became a Bogle Bulldog in the 2000-2001 school year, coincidentally when Mr. Delp started in CUSD. She taught seventh grade language arts, eighth grade language arts, and Read 180, and English 1. Her duties outside of the classroom have encompassed: Media Crew, Drama Club, Running Club, Blanketeers (service club), and Homework Hub supervisor. Ms. Celmins transferred to Willis Junior High School to serve as the Media Specialist, teach the Read 180 program. In 2014 she learned she would be the full-time media specialist and could focus her energy in making reading contagious at Willis.
My Educational Philosophy
Reading, listening, speaking, and thinking are the foundations for all learning.
