Hi! Welcome to Room 28. My name Ms. Lawler and I look forward to working with you and your child this year! This website has been designed to give parents and students access to information about what is happening in our classroom, and resources to help you navigate the school year. This is a work in progress so feel free to e-mail me with suggestions as to what type of information you need. Welcome again--it's going to be a great year!
My Education and Professional Background
I have a B.B.S. in Business from the University of San Diego. I worked in CA in the Accounting field for five years, but when I moved to Arizona I decided to pursue a career in teaching. I have a Masters in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. I began my teaching career at Jacobson Elementary and taught there for 5 years. After being a stay-at-home Mom for 8 years, I began teaching again in 2003 at Weinberg Elementary. I transferred to Conley Elementary in 2013.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe one of the most important parts of a teacher's job is to create an environment in which a child feels comfortable, relaxed and safe. I like to demonstrate by example that learning is a lifelong process that is exciting and joyful; and that so much of what we learn is interconnected and applicable to our real world lives. I believe in respecting students, their ways of thinking and learning, and require that they respect each other and me as well.
