     Course Description: In Junior English, students will examine American Literature from diverse American authors and explore the concept of the American Dream. Students will also study various forms of writing. These will include narrative, argumentative, and informational/expository writing. This is an interactive course that requires student involvement including research, debate and oral presentations which will require the use of multimedia resources. 

     

    Objectives: 

    1. Students will analyze and comprehend the different styles of American literature through historical texts and through fiction/non-fiction short stories, poems, and novels. 
    2. Students will identify various writing formats and formulate their own ideas into organized and comprehensive essays, poems and/or short stories. 
    3. Students will develop individual writing and reading skills as well as integrating appropriate group work within the classroom.
