    Today, we listened to Act 2 Prologue, Act 2.1 and 2.2, and 2.3.  We tracked the dichotomies, symbols, motifs, and repetitions and recorded them/discussed the significance.  Students are attempting to discern the dynamics of human nature begin examined within the text, as well as the social criticisms being communicated beneath the surface of the plot.

     We reviewed the historical periods preceeding the Renaissance, in order to understand the socio-political dynamics which shaped the context of Romeo and Juliet.

    Today, we learned about the complex conventions of the sonnet form, in order to discern its meaning. We then listened to/read Act 1.1 and discussed.

    Today, we charted all of the allusions, symbols, dichotomies, and motifs that we found in Act 1.1 in our comp books.  Then, we discussed, and finally, we listened to Act 1.2 and Act 1.3.

    Please complete the attached set of questions.  You will only have 4 answers in TOTAL :) You need to choose only 2 to answer from each section (figurative language and critical thinking).  You must use quotes from the play and answers can come from scene 1, 2, or 3.

    Today, students used the AZMerit informational writing rubric to evaluate one another's Wonder Writes.  Next, we worked on critical reading and a variety of literary concepts using Reading Detective activities.

    Today, students were given an argumentative writing assignment in preparation for both testing and for 10th grade.  Rather than giving an outline, I'd like students to practice devising their own structure for the argument, ensuring, at the same time, however, that they include sufficient details, evidence, quotes, and examples to create  a compelling defense.
