Welcome!

I am the proud principal of Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary. I believe that every child can learn. We work hard to create an inclusive school environment, where students have the opportunity to connect with school. I encourage you to be our partner in education. Please advocate for your child. There are a lot of ways in which you can become involved in our school. I look forward to working with you and your child. Please stop by and introduce yourself. Welcome!

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from Iowa State University in 1994. My first teaching job was in Houston, Texas. I joined the Chandler Unified district in July of 1998. I taught at San Marcos, worked at the IRC and was a principal at Santan Elementary. I joined the Hartford community in July of 2011. I have a Masters degree in Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction. I also hold an administrative certificate.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that all children can learn. It is our job to reach each child. Every decision should be made on what is best for children. I also believe that positive relationships are a critical component of a successful school

Welcome!

I am so happy to be joining the Hartford community this year. I am looking forward to working with the families and staff of our school to continue the amazing initiatives and programs already in place here at Hartford. If I can ever be of any support, please do not hesitate to contact me. If you see me around campus please say hello and introduce yourself!

My Education and Professional Background

I earned my BA in Early Childhood Education from Arizona State University, my MEd in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Elementary Literacy from Grand Canyon University and my second MEd in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. I taught 3rd grade in the Balsz Elementary School District and 6th grade at Basha Elementary School in Chandler Unified School District.

My Educational Philosophy

Every learner is a unique individual who requires a caring, safe, and engaging environment in which to learn and grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually. Children must be provided a space in which they can safely explore and discover new content. Educators must seek out multiple methods to assess student learning and allow students to demonstrate mastery of content in a variety of ways.
