Welcome to the sixth grade. We are messy, we make mistakes, we learn, and we get better!
My Education and Professional Background
I received my BS in Elementary Education from NAU and my M.Ed. from ASU. I taught in Gilbert for 9 years (three years teaching 2nd grade, five years teaching 5th grade and 1 year teaching 6th grade).
My Educational Philosophy
A student must feel comfortable being wrong and must feel safe enough to make mistakes before he/she can ever truly grow and learn. It is a teachers job to meet that student where he/she is and help them to grow. You do this by setting structure in the class room, setting expectations that include failure and growth from failure, and by setting the example. The students must see that growth in the teacher before they are able to feel comfortable enough to grow with the teacher. The teacher must also have a vision for where he wants to see the students go. This is achieved by setting goals, tracking progress and celebrating victories.
