Welcome!

Hello and welcome! My name is Ms. Bickley and I am so incredibly excited to be starting my first year of teaching at Santan Junior High. I completed my student teaching at Santan during the 2015-2016 school year and it truly is a dream come true to be able to extend this experience and OFFICIALLY be a part of the Santan Storm! I find joy in reading and writing, breakfast food, and being outdoors. Looking forward to a productive, meaningful, fantastic year!

My Education and Professional Background

I received my BA in English with a concentration in American Literature and my Masters of Education in Teaching and Teacher Education, both from the University of Arizona (Bear Down!). I am highly qualified in the ELA content area for grades 7-12 and am SEI endorsed for grades K-12.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe in developing students into lifelong learners. That is, every aspect of a student’s education, down to the last letter penciled into a notebook, should be presented as an opportunity to gain more knowledge of the world than the student had before. I believe that a classroom is first and foremost a community. But most of all, I believe in finding meaning and making learning meaningful. I believe in providing meaningful lessons to students and in turn I believe in searching for meaning in what students have to say. I believe that teachers should have enthusiasm and a profound belief in the importance of their subject, and I hope to exemplify that through my passion for ELA and teaching!
