Speaker Biography: Dr. Curtis Acosta, Assistant Professor in Teaching, Learning, and Sociocultural Studies at the University of Arizona
In CUSD, almost 30% of our students identify as Hispanic. Dr. Curtis Acosta, an educational researcher examining the engagement and learning style of this population, has cited humanizing pedagogy as practice in unleashing the academic power of this group. How have humanizing educational practices, created a paradigm shift in producing excellent academic outcomes for Hispanic youth? In this lecture, educators will learn how to implement humanizing pedagogical strategies in the teaching and learning of this population.
