Our Mission

The mission of Unified Sports® is to create an inclusive environment that combines individuals with intellectual disabilities (Athletes) and individuals without intellectual disabilities

(Partners) on the same sports teams for training and competition.

What Are Unified Sports?

Unified Sports is an inclusive program that brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities on sports teams for training and competition. Chandler Unified School District offers unified cheer, flag football, soccer, track & field, and basketball, and you don’t need experience in any sport to join. The program focuses on teamwork, sportsmanship, and developing athletic skills while promoting understanding, acceptance, and friendships across all participants. Unified Sports gives students the opportunity to make a difference in their community and build lasting relationships

IMPACT ON OUR STUDENTS

The impact on students is significant for both those with and without disabilities. Participants gain confidence, improve social skills, and develop a stronger sense of belonging. They learn to celebrate successes, navigate challenges as a team, and foster lasting friendships. Volunteers and student partners play a key role in promoting inclusion, bridging gaps, and creating a supportive school environment. Unified Sports breaks down stereotypes and helps all students feel valued and capable while offering experiences in leadership growth and opportunities to make a real impact.

A Voice for Inclusion

Chandler Unified School District serves as a powerful voice in raising awareness about the abilities of people with physical and intellectual disabilities.

Through sports, our athletes showcase their skills, dignity, and determination. We bring all students together to experience the transformative power of friendship and competition. Our coaches see firsthand the odds our athletes overcome and the barriers they face every day; yet, at every training event and competition, we watch our students push to beat their personal bests and then exceed them.

Rules & Schedules By Sport

Sports are a powerful force that can shift the focus from disability to ability and from isolation to involvement. Across our district, we offer various sports throughout the school year, typically including:
