About Us

Counseling and Social Services Mission

The CUSD Counseling and Social Services department empowers students through a proactive and developmentally appropriate comprehensive counseling program that promotes well-being, academic achievement, and career and college readiness.

Counseling and Social Services Vision

The vision of CUSD Counseling and Social Services Department is to help develop and sustain a caring school environment that promotes respect, reflection, problem-solving, social responsibility, and healthy relationships. Our vision is to provide a proactive and responsive support program that ensures all students understand and embrace their own values through a positive mindset of belonging and connection with one another.

School Counselor & Social Worker System of Care

The Department of Counseling and Social Services strives to implement a comprehensive School Counseling and Social Work model that utilizes data to drive and determine supports. Students have access to a School Counselor and/or a Social Worker at every CUSD site (Find Your Counselor or Social Worker Here).

In CUSD School Counselors and Social Workers are expected to follow a tiered-model approach to programming. For example, Tier 1 would include classroom lessons, Tier 2 would be small support groups, and Tier 3 could be a referral to a community behavioral health agency (with parent/guardian consent). Please see the Referral Pathway graphic below to better understand access to services.
