PROCEDURES

STAFF ACTION

We all play a role in keeping students safe.

All school personnel are mandatory reporters and have a legal duty to report. Here is a flowchart showing what is required to occur.

MANDATORY REPORTING FLOWCHART

Safety & Support Reporting System

Students can report bullying or any concerning behavior using STOPit Solutions, our district's anonymous reporting platform provided through Lightspeed. This tool empowers students to speak up safely and confidentially. Reports can be made anytime by visiting stopitsolutions.com/directory and selecting your school from the list. All reports are reviewed by school staff to ensure timely follow-up and support.

STUDENT HANDBOOKS

These topics are also discussed in our CUSD student handbooks.

Support for Students and Families

Supportive measures are non-disciplinary, non-punitive individualized services offered to individuals who have experienced discrimination, harassment, or retaliation. These measures are designed to address an individual's safety and well-being while allowing continued access to educational or employment opportunities. They are available without fee or charge and can include various forms of support tailored to the needs of the complainant or respondent.

Procedure © 4-202.A Staff/Student Boundaries - Social Media and Cell Phone Use

The expectation in CUSD is that staff do NOT communicate with students outside of district-approved platforms that provide transparency and oversight, including Infinite Campus, district email, and ParentSquare.

Direct messaging with students on personal social media accounts or texting from personal cell phones is NOT permitted. This expectation aligns with guidance from the Arizona State Board of Education, which is shared with staff annually as part of required training and explicitly reminds school personnel to avoid private or informal electronic communications with students.

Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries is essential to protecting students and staff alike and ensuring safe, accountable communication practices.
