About Us

Mission
The CUSD Counseling and Social Services department empowers students through a proactive and developmentally appropriate comprehensive counseling program that promotes well-being, academic achievement, and career and college readiness. 

Vision
The vision of CUSD Counseling and Social Services Department is to help develop and sustain a caring school environment that promotes respect, reflection, problem-solving, social responsibility, and healthy relationships. Our vision is to provide a proactive and responsive support program that ensures all students understand and embrace their own values through a positive mindset of belonging and connection with one another.

Food Resources 

FREE HOT LUNCH STARTING NOVEMBER 8TH!

CUSD Nutrition will be hosting FREE hot lunch for children 18 years old and under on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 - 12:30 pm beginning November 8 - 9, 2025. This meal program will continue each weekend until further notice. *No ID or eligibility is required. 

Location: Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary School (700 N. Hartford St. Chandler)

Time: 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

  • Meal Service in the Cafeteria
  • Meals Must be Eaten on Campus
  • One Meal per Child

CUSD reminds families that free and reduced meal programs are available at all schools. *Families can apply or re-apply mid-year if income changes. SNAP delays will not affect children’s eligibility- students directly certified through SNAP will continue receiving free meals without interruption. Once approved, students eat at no charge for the full 2025-26 school year.

BORDERLANDS PRODUCE ON WHEELS 

Borderlands at Bologna Elementary is back for its third season of rescuing fresh produce and feeding our community! Each month, volunteers partner with Borderlands Produce Rescue to save fruits and vegetables that would otherwise go to waste- boxing up 70-pound produce boxes for families in need.

The next event takes place the second Saturday of each month. *If know families who could benefit from a produce box but can’t afford the $15 donation, vouchers are available- please reach out to Bologna (480) 224-9449. 

Location: Bologna Elementary School (1625 E. Frye Rd. Chandler) 

Time: 8:00 - 11:00 am

For Our City Food Banks

UNITED FOOD BANK 

United Food Bank will be doing Thanksgiving Food Distribution on Wednesday, November 19th.

Location: Mesa Convention Center (263 N. Center St.)

Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm (*or until food is gone

  • A variety of seasonal foods will be distributed for a traditional holiday meal.
  • This is a drive-thru distribution, please empty your trunks in advance.
  • Walk-up service is available to those without vehicles.
  • Individuals and families in need of food assistance are welcome.

This event is completely free and open to all community members of all yoga levels! It will take place in the lovely San Marcos Resort courtyard right in Downtown Chandler and include free cakepops for all who attend as well.
