 Chandler Physical Education/Health Overview

Physical education offers opportunities for all students to participate fully and explore a wide range of activities exposing students to new ideas and experiences. Equipment and activities are modified as needed to meet students’ developmental needs. Students develop self-confidence through participation in cooperative as well as competitive activities.

Health education provides students opportunities to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to develop, maintain, and enjoy healthy lifestyles as well as to solve problems, make decisions, and set goals that are directly related to their personal health and well-being. Learning how to establish, monitor, and maintain healthy relationships are critical life skills.

Physical education and health education instruction focus on developing the knowledge, attitudes, motor skills, behavioral skills, and confidence needed to adopt and maintain physically active lifestyles. Curriculum is aligned to with National, State and district standards.

“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.” - John F. Kennedy
