Civic Education
Chandler Unified School District values and takes pride in the numerous opportunities students have in civic learning. At all levels, students demonstrate a deep understanding of the U.S. Constitution, civic engagement, and an appreciation for our form of government and civic responsibility. Below are a few examples of CUSD civic education along with the Civic Literacy Diploma Seal, Participatory Budgeting, and We the People.
Sandra Day O’Connor Civics Celebration Day (A.R.S. 15-710.01): Each year students learn about the first female Supreme Court justice as an example of civility, caracter, compassion and a role model.
9/11 Education Day (A.S.R. 15-710.02, A.R.S. 15-203): CUSD schools commemorated Patriot Day with a variety of activities to help students learn about one of our country’s worst tragedies. Sites welcomed and recognized first responders to be part of the events. View CUSD Celebration Photos HERE
