Free and Reduced Meals Information

Eligibility

Your child/children may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals if:

All student in households receiving benefits from SNAP/TANF, the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) or FDPIR
Foster children that are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court
Students participating in their school's Head Start program
Students who meet the definition of homeless, runaway, or migrant
Students who's household income falls at or below the limits of the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines
Students in households participating in WIC - Please send in an application

If your child doesn’t qualify at this time:

You may still apply if your situation changes later in the school year. For example, children with a parent or guardian who becomes unemployed may become eligible for free and reduced price meals if the household income drops below the income limit.

Benefits

School Meals - Free or Reduced prices on delicious and nutritious meals*
- Breakfast entrées with up to two fruit sides and milk
- Lunch entrées, with up to two fruit sides, two vegetable sides and milk
P-EBT – Eligibility to receive Pandemic EBT
Academic Tests – Reduced registration fees for AP, SAT, and/or ACT tests
- Two waivers for SAT fees
- Four additional SAT score reports
- SAT online course, discount $40.00
- Two waivers for ACT fees
- Four college application waivers
Internet Access – Eligible for discounted rates on internet services
Athletics – Free or discounted fees to participate in most sports

*A la carte items (packaged food products sold separately from the meal) are excluded.

Key Dates

Early July (TBD) - Online Application portal opens for free or reduced lunch for the 2026-2027 school year.
July 15 - First day of school.
August 26 - Eligibility from 2026-2027 school year EXPIRES. Please re-apply for the 2026-2027 school year.

CUSD Nutrition recommends completing free and reduced applications online by going to MySchoolApps in order to reduce processing and notification times.

Due to being a part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) students at the following schools do not need to apply for Free and Reduced Meals:
