Alt ELPA
The Alt ELPA is an alternate English language proficiency assessment (AZELLA) designed for English learners with the most significant cognitive disabilities.
Students must be determined to be eligible for alternate assessment by the IEP team before (Nov. 30 - holidays may impact and cause an earlier deadline). Eligible students in Grades K-12 will take the reassessment in late January - early March.
The Alt ELPA takes into consideration the diverse communication experiences of English learners with the most significant cognitive disabilities. Students are assessed in a one-on-one setting and have access to the individualized accommodations set by the IEP team. Results from the assessment will determine a student's eligibility for English Language services for the following school year.
