Welcome!

As Media Specialist I would like to welcome you to Chandler High School Media Center. We have been in the process of remodeling our Media Center bringing it into the 21st Century. This is a work in progress that is encompassing a 3 to 5 year period. We have reduced our outdated book collection and moving in with Chrome books and using the Cloud for students to use. In the future modern furniture will be purchased to help promote 21st Century feel when students use the Media Center.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA. Major: Communications and a Minor: Instructional Media. I have a Media Specialist Endorsement for state of Arizona. I also have a standard CTE (Career Technology Education) degree. I am qualified to teach International Baccalaureate Film. I started my Media Specialist career back in 1980 teaching Speech Communications at Bonneville Jr. High School, in Idaho Falls, ID. / Aug. 1981- May 1983 Florence High School, Florence Az. / Aug. 1983-May 1989 Chandler Jr. High (CJHS), Chandler, Az. / Aug. 1989- May 2005 Andersen Jr. High School, Chandler, Az. / Aug. 2005 - Current Chandler High School, Chandler, Az.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe the success of students at high school in preparing them for College and Career Readiness is to apply rigor into the curriculum. As teachers we need to be positive and challenging to the students so they can grow, learn and apply the material that is taught to them. Allowing students to redo assignments and retake test is important for them to learn the material being taught. By doing this students will enhance their education. Student will sometimes fall down, but the important thing is for them to get back up keep working hard until they succeed.
