Welcome to PE. I am a native of Arizona and the east valley. I have always had a love and appreciation for our gorgeous climate and the opportunity it gives us to get outdoors and play. I have three children in the Chandler Unified School District. On weekends, you will find me hiking one of our beautiful valley summits, at the gym, or at a sporting event with my family.
My Education and Professional Background
This is my second year teaching physical education and my first at CUSD. I am a Veteran (Air Force) and spent nearly 8 years as a firefighter. I attended Mesa Community College on a basketball scholarship then graduated from Black Hills State University in South Dakota. In 2010 I earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Arizona State University. My background brings knowledge and practice of habits that include staying active and being healthy. I have a passion to inspire children to find in themselves what will ignite the spark for lifetime fitness.
My Educational Philosophy
My goal as a physical education teacher is to inspire my students in a way that promotes a lifetime of healthy habits and participation in enjoyable activities. This includes teaching not only the locomotor skills necessary but more importantly, cooperative life skills. Students will learn how to work well with others. They will be encouraged to be kind and respectful to both themselves and their peers. Lastly, the overall goal is to have as much fun as can be imagined, while maintaining a safe environment, both physically and emotionally.
