Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! My name is Kristin Anderson, and I am thrilled to be working with your children as their Dean of Students. I am starting my 18th year in public education, having taught within elementary and high school special education classrooms and then on to high school administration, for the last 10 years. I am excited to return to my 'roots' within the elementary and to have joined an amazing school and district!
My Education and Professional Background
Northern Arizona University was my school of choice! My Bachelor's is a dual degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. My Master's degree was earned in Educational Leadership, as well as my Principal's Certification and coursework. Uniquely, I taught special education at both the elementary and the high school levels for seven years. After completing my administrative internship at the elementary level, I moved into high school administration for ten years. I am excited to begin my Chandler adventure as a Dean of Students at the elementary level.
My Educational Philosophy
Our children deserve the absolute best; meaningful relationships, quality education, positive supports, structure and encouragement to learn, grow and experience success. I am a believer in the importance of building quality relationships with students and families in order to open the doors to learning and to encourage a child's social-emotional growth and development. In turn, kids feel their value and safety within their learning environment.
