Hello!

I am so excited to join Shumway and look forward to getting to know students and their families. I have been an Educator since 1988 and what I have enjoyed the most is the relationships that I develop with the communities and staff.  

I have three children who all attended Chandler schools and graduated from Hamilton High School.  My two daughters live in Tempe. One of my daughters is a Physician’s Assistant and the other is a Dental Hygienist. My son is in the Navy and is currently in Texas. My husband and I enjoy traveling and discovering new hobbies now that we are on our own. 

I graduated in 1988 with my Bachelors Degree in Education from Cal Poly,San Luis Obispo. I have a  Masters degree in Curriculum and Development with an emphasis in Technology and another Masters in Educational Leadership. I taught in California for 12 years and moved to Arizona in 2000. I started teaching in Chandler in 2001 at Conley Elementary School and moved over to Tarwater Elementary School in 2003. I have taught all grade levels, K-6, Technology, STEM and have been a  Media Specialist. Last year I worked with Chandler Online Academy as a Technology Coach.

I look forward to working with all of the students at Shumway and helping them become problem solvers. They need to have the ability to change and grow.  In order to adapt  to change they need to be effective communicators and critical thinkers. They also  need to know how to work cooperaatively in groups  and use technology efficiently.  All of these skills will help them become  responsible citizens that contribute to our society.
