About

Hello and Welcome! I am so excited to be at San Marcos teaching K-6 Special Education. I look forward to working with and learning from your students!
My Education and Professional Background
This is my second year teaching at San Marcos Elementary. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Special Education (B.S.Ed.) as well as a Master of Education degree in Special Education and Assistive Technology (MEd). I earned my degrees from Northern Arizona University (Go Jacks!) and I bleed Blue and Gold!
My Educational Philosophy
No great learning can be achieved without a great relationship; therefore I make it my mission to connect with each of my students in order to establish and maintain their trust. Every child is welcomed and included in my classroom. I believe students should be active participants in their education. They should have the opportunity to create, lead, and construct their education with hands-on and real world experiences. Learning is not a passive process and I do not expect my students to sit by absorb information spouted at them; rather, students must be engaged and ready to work hard! You would be amazed what your students can do by simply presuming competence.
