Welcome!

Hello! My name is Miss Long. I am so excited to be joining the Frye family. I absolutely love teaching! It brings me so much joy. My favorite part about teaching is building relationships with my students and helping them succeed in every possible way.

My Education and Professional Background

have been involved in education for the since 2015. I started as a private tutor to students of all ages with disabilities, the majority having dyslexia and ADHD. I then became a paraprofessional in a K-2 CASE classroom. I feel very privileged to have worked with a range of students. It gives me a greater perspective on all students who may have differing ability levels. I earned my dual degree in Elementary and Special Education from Arizona State University.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that every child can learn and succeed. To do this, they first must be in an environment where they feel comfortable, appreciated, and loved. I do this by getting to know each one of my students and making sure to talk with them each day. By creating this relationship, students will feel that they belong in the classroom and will be willing to learn from me. I also believe that each child learns in their own unique way. If given the proper tools, they can learn and succeed. In my classroom, I use tools that relate to Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences. These include, but are not limited to, visual, kinesthetic (hands-on/movement), verbal, and musical activities. By using a variety of these activities, students are being taught in the best way for them and are staying engaged. Keeping them engaged is so important to me, because it keeps their minds open to learning and growing.
