Hello! I'm excited to be joining the amazing staff at Casteel, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with young Colts on their mastery of the English Language Arts. Thank you for visiting; this page will be valuable resource throughout the year for calendars and assignments. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me!
My Education and Professional Background
A California native, I graduated from San Jose State with a Bachelor’s degree in English literature. It took seven years working in the video game industry and two more working in tech before I realized how much I enjoyed training and mentoring others, and I received my Masters of Education degree from the University of Arizona last year as part of a transition into teaching.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that everyone is capable of learning. I believe that we all need to take responsibility for our own learning, and that taking responsibility is incredibly empowering. And I believe in the value of communication- literature and language are part of an incredible chain linking us to both the past and the future, and they can provide us with knowledge and skills that are incredibly important to learn.
