My Education and Professional Background

I was born and raised in Jackson, MI. I earned a degree in Elementary Education & Vocal Music from Graceland University in Lamoni, IA. In addition, I have received and completed a National Endowment for Humanities Fellowship in Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Michigan. I have 15 years of previous teaching experiences in CA, MO, FL, AZ, and MI. I also play the flute and am learning to play the violin. While working in the music tour business for 7 years, I assisted with choral festivals at the Kennedy Center along with working with the National Memorial Day & Independence Day parades in Washington DC. During the past 12 years, I have visited the countries of Austria, Hungary, France, Great Britain, Germany, Czech Republic, Ireland, and Italy. I have also served as a small church choir director, music leader, and used to sing with the University of Michigan Choral Union.

My Educational Philosophy

I am a creative, unique work in progress. I enjoy creating engaging learning experiences for my students that create wonder. I enter to live and live to learn. I will lead hand in hand with compassion, music, and laughter. I will live in harmony within diverse creation.
