About
Canchola...
Hello Andersen Astronauts! My name is Angelica Canchola and I am the School Counselor at Andersen Elementary. I am honored to join the amazing team of educators at Andersen and am looking forward to working with all of our students and families.
My Education and Professional Background
I obtained my bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Arizona and went on to complete my master's degree in school counseling and mental health counseling. I spent four years working in community mental health as a child and family counselor and am a licensed professional counselor. I am ecstatic to transition to education and begin my first year as an elementary school counselor!
My Educational Philosophy
Students need a strong foundation on which they can build upon as they mature into key members of our communities. My role as the school counselor places me in the ideal position to bridge any gaps in emotional, social and academic success that students may encounter as they navigate the elementary years. I strive to create an ethical school counseling program which provides resources for students, parents and staff. In alignment with this, I recognize the strong need to work alongside each student and their support network to foster a proactive culture that enables a psychologically safe environment that encourages a positive learning space.
