Hello! I am excited to be a part of the Galveston family and be a part of the 6th great team. I am especially looking forward to meeting all my 6th graders. Please don't hesitate to contact me- students, parents, and teachers are part of one big team!
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from the University of Florida with my Bachelors in Elementary Education in 2014 and then received my Master's in Special Education in 2015. I have taught first grade, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade in Florida. This will be my 5th year teaching and my first year at Galveston! I am looking forward to joining the community here and teaching 6th grade!
My Educational Philosophy
My philosophy has always been grounded in the idea of establishing strong relationships first. Every year my priority is to establish a strong relationship with each of my students. No matter their background, behavior, or learning ability, it's crucial to find a connection with them and then focus on everything else after that. One way in which I establish a good relationship with my students is by building a classroom community where all my students feel accepted and welcome. Building a strong classroom community is important to me because if students feel safe and comfortable, there is so much they are capable of doing!
