Welcome!
Welcome to 3rd grade! I am so excited to be teaching your amazing kiddos! Third grade is an exciting time where we really begin to see students take ownership of their learning. I am looking forward to a fantastic year full of fun and growth. I live in Gilbert, AZ with my husband Derek and our three wonderful boys. In my spare time, I enjoy cheering my boys on the field, and hiking in our beautiful state.
My Education and Professional Background
This is my 18th year teaching and my 7th year teaching 3rd grade. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts. I went on to earn my Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix in 2005. I hold an endorsement in Early Childhood Education and Structured English Immersion. I am a Certified Spalding Teacher, completing both Spalding I and Spalding II courses. I am trained in TRE (Teaching Reading Effectively) and completed course work to designate me as an Arizona Dyslexia Designee.
My Educational Philosophy
It is my goal to foster a love for learning that will continue beyond the classroom. Each child will be an important part of our classroom community. Third grade is a turning point for many students as they start to gain independence and responsibility in their schooling. I try to create an environment where students begin to understand their role in their personal success, and provide them opportunities to develop a growth mindset in achieving their goals. With guidance and support, it is my hope to help each student reach their fullest potential.
