    My name is Jamie Lander and I am both proud and honored to be the newly appointed principal of Riggs Elementary. Riggs Elementary School is an exceptional learning environment with a supportive and involved community. I cannot wait to be a part of this amazing community

    My Education and Professional Background

    I arrived at Riggs Elementary as a seasoned elementary educator. This coming year will mark my 20th year in education. I have taught for 16 years as an elementary educator. I have been a teacher in grades 5, 3, and 1. I was an elementary principal for two years in the state of New York and most recently worked in administration with the Paradise Valley School District.I feel confident that my unique experiences make me a good fit for Riggs Elementary School. I hold a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education, a Masters degree in Special Education, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Building Leadership.

    My Educational Philosophy

    I believe in the power of relationships. My goal will be to continue on with the holistic approach that is the foundation of Riggs Elementary. I am committed to communicating regularly with all families. I welcome all communication. I plan to be highly visible on campus and events. The well being and safety of students is always my top priority. I want students to achieve high levels of academic success as well as learn and grow socially and emotionally. I believe that with a shared vision and team approach anything is possible.
