What an honor it is to be Assistant Principal of Riggs Elementary School! The vibe of community, family, and kindness is evident throughout this campus. I look forward to being a part of the Riggs Roadrunner family as we continue to collaborate with and support our students, staff, and community members in order to provide a safe, inclusive and welcoming school atmosphere, that promotes academic success for all of our students!
My Education and Professional Background
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from ASU in 2004, followed by a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from ASU in 2007. I further achieved a Master of Education in Administration- Principal/Leadership Certificate from NAU in 2010. I continued my path of learning by completing a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from ASU in 2014. I am ELL, SEI, and Early Childhood Endorsed. I taught 2nd grade in Roosevelt School District for 2 years and prior to that, I was a substitute teacher in the Chandler and Gilbert School Districts. Most of my teaching career has been in CUSD, teaching 1st, 2nd, 4th grades, and two years as Dean of students. I did my student teaching right here in Chandler! This island girl, from Trinidad and Tobago, has an amazing husband and two lovely teenage daughters and our golden doodle Archie! Together we love traveling, movies, and spending quality family time!
My Educational Philosophy
How blessed am I to be in a profession that inspires others to aspire and achieve! I truly believe in being a lifelong learner and leader. I continually aim to develop myself professionally, in order to grow, and help others grow along the way! Our students and their families bring so many unique qualities to our school environment and I am always eager to learn from them and support our staff and parents in developing strong social skills in our students as well as preparing them to be college, career, and life ready!
