Hello Students and Families, I am a writer, a mother, a teacher, a wife and a lover of books. I just have to say I am thrilled to find myself at Chandler High School. As a Chicanx educator of 16 years, writing researcher, and professional writer, I am thrilled to be part of the Wolf pack. I am interested in the ways that writing teachers can approach writing instruction that is equitable, engaging, and effective for all learners. I am an avid traveler and dedicated to being a lifelong learner.

My Education and Professional Background

Dr. Baldonado-Ruiz holds a Ph.D in English Education, from Arizona State University; an MA in English and Professional Writing, from Northern Arizona University; and a B.A. In Secondary Education from University of New Mexico. I began teaching in 1998 in New Mexico and have taught at various schools here in the East Valley. I am a current Co-director of the Central Arizona Writing Project and have worked as an educational advocate as well as teacher trainer with the National Writing Project.

My Educational Philosophy

As part of my course, I ask students to tell me a little bit about themselves as well as ask the question, what does your American Dream look like? For me, my American Dream is about having the opportunity to learn more about the world in which I live and to have the ability to make a difference in that world. Cesar Chavez once said, We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community. Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspiration
