Hello all and welcome to Ms.Myers Investigative Science class web page!
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Arizona State University in December of 2019 with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and Biological Sciences. My teaching career began in January 2020 at a middle school where I taught 7th and 8th grade science for one semester. I then started teaching Investigative Science at Perry High school in July of 2020 and I am excited to be a part of the Puma Nation!
My Educational Philosophy
As a teacher, I want to create curiosity in my students through the scientific process. I strive to break down negative stigmas about STEM subjects by implementing more inquiry-based labs and activities so that the students are driven by curiosity rather than obligation. The beauty of science is that you can see the concepts acting in the environment around you. You can watch plants grow as they undergo photosynthesis, you can take cells from your own body and view the organelles, you can look up in the sky and see an entire universe that is just at our fingertips. I hope to build the connection between real life applications and content so that my students can build problem solving skills, practice critical thinking, and develop collaboration tactics that they can apply to any field of study.
